It started with a random tweet. It ended with a ride around Winnipeg in a Tesla Roadster and a new friendship.
I saw @KeithBilous tweet about how much he loved giving people rides in his recent "birthday gift to himself": A new Tesla Roadster.
I responded and said I wanted a ride, too. :)
Seeing that my Twitter profile says I'm in Phoenix, he joked that if I were in Winnipeg, he'd swing by and pick me up. (Little did he know... that's the tweet that got him in trouble)
I'm originally from Winnipeg and was back in town visiting family & friends, so I responded with my current whereabouts to see if he was really serious. He was. 15 minutes later, I was making a new friend from the passenger side of an electric sports car.

Here's a video clip of us getting lost in Winnipeg:
(Yeah, sorry about the sideways angle. I'm still learning how to manage my iPhone.)

When I started the Social Media Adventure way back in the early days, I threw a few shirts & shorts into the trunk of my car and hit the highway to meet my online friends in person. I wanted to put a practical application to the notion that the web is connecting us and bringing us together.
Some things have changed since I originally departed, but the wardrobe ...

Today I had the best birthday ever....
Not only did I have a surprise birthday, but I also got engaged. :)
Here it is, the picture that made our special day public. It was taken around 8:30pm on December 28th at my “surprise” birthday party. My good friend @SkinnyJeans posted it to twitter immediately and within minutes, @AZFamily (Channel 3TV) had also tweeted it. ...

I love Lake Tahoe!
Well, that is, except for the cold. :)
This was my first time in South Lake Tahoe, NV and I wasn't sure what to expect. After leaving Canada a few years ago I don't tolerate the cold much. Even in Phoenix I get a bit chilly when it drops below 70 degrees...
Anyway, back to the story. I ...

This post has been a long time coming. After many requests I am finally giving in...
You see, anyone who knows me well knows that I am shameless. I don't really ever get embarrassed and don't mind looking silly.
I sing out loud in my car, i wave at strangers, i do handstands in public.
That's how I roll.
For some reason, though, I was a bit reluctant to share this ...

There are few things better than a barbecue with good friends, but this one was over-the-top amazing.
In my previous post I described how the Social Media Adventure is about combining my love for travel, people and social media into one exciting adventure, and about how my friend Stephanie Quilao (aka @SkinnyJeans) uses her site www.Noshtopia.com to combine her love for social media with food for the greatest ...

When I started the Social Media Adventure, it was driven by love. (Insert a big Awwwwww, isn't that sweet? here.)
More specifically, it was driven by a love for 2 things in particular:
My love for people (and making new friends)
A love for social media
To be honest, what could be more fun than combining those things? I didn't think it was possible...
But ...

In case you hadn't noticed by now, I love Foursquare.
If you're not familiar with Foursquare, it's a geo-location app integrated with social media interactivity. In non-geek speak, it means that you can scout around the city doing fun things and let your friends know what you're up to. It's also a fun treasure hunt, where you can earn badges just like back in boy scouts. Yay!

Moab is hot.
No, not just hot... it's like a freakin' furnace! Yeah, and I live in Phoenix.
Moab was WAY hotter than Phoenix for some strange reason. Okay, maybe it wasn't so strange... it might have been the fact that we were out hiking on the red rocks of Arches National Park at high-noon, without water, and I had my shirt off. Either way, it was still hot... ...

Nationwide Social Media Adventure Revolutionizing the Way People See Social Media
For many, the idea of a cross continent road trip makes us cringe, but that's not the case for Joseph Ranseth, a 30-year-old entrepreneur and social media 'evangelist'. He's out to disprove the notion that technology distances us as a culture, and he's ...
