Memorial Day Weekend in Phoenix – Social Media BBQ
There are few things better than a barbecue with good friends, but this one was over-the-top amazing.
In my previous post I described how the Social Media Adventure is about combining my love for travel, people and social media into one exciting adventure, and about how my friend Stephanie Quilao (aka @SkinnyJeans) uses her site www.Noshtopia.com to combine her love for social media with food for the greatest business ever.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get better…
For one weekend only, @JosephRanseth & @SkinnyJeans teamed up to bring you the Social Media Adventure BBQ!
This cavalcade of food, friends & fun was proudly hosted by our good friend Kristin Nelson, and provided hours of laughter, socializing, splashing in the pool and perhaps the occasional adult beverage.
I wish I could do the food justice but I was too busy scarfing it down to take notes, but I promise you’ll be blown away by the pics that Stephanie did on her post: Plate Peek: Eating Healthy BBQ.

iPhone Addicts: Beverly Kidd & Stephanie Quilao
Most of the people that attended were FB friends who, sadly, aren’t on twitter. (Sad, because we can’t link to them for you to meet.) We did, however, have the good fortune of our friend Beverly Kidd (@BeverlyKidd) come join us. Turns out that Beverly is more famous than we thought… everybody at the BBQ recognized her as the Channel 3 News Anchor. And I thought I was going to be the famous one at the party! Had I known ahead of time, my ego might not have let me invite her… (Sorry Bev, I’m fragile like that)
Even though I accidentally deleted a bunch of the great pictures from the weekend, the BBQ was an amazing experience. Well, up until the time that I missed a backflip into the pool…
You see, my favorite 11-year old on the planet, Sarah, was encouraging me to do a back layout. (They are supposed to look this…) Having no fear, I tried it. Turns out that you’re not supposed to land on your big toes… who knew?
Good thing we had a doctor at the party. Looking back, I think we should have invited an orthopedic specialist, not a skin rejuvenation specialist. Oh well, I don’t mind a broken toe now that I have a pretty face.
