Six Degrees of Social Media Separation & Phoenix Spa Adventures
Have you ever connected with someone on social media only to later ask the question,”how in the world did we get connected in the first place?”

Camera Shy
Usually what follows is a string of sorting through mutual acquaintances or interests and trying to pinpoint where the initial connection was made.
That’s what happened when I met Jana this week while down in Phoenix, Ariona.
Jana works at her family business, along with her mom and 3 sisters. As luck would have it, they just happen to have the coolest family business on the planet: A spa. (Seriously, what could be better than hanging out all day at the spa? In Phoenix, nonetheless…)

Not so shy now...
Anyway, back to the game of “Six Degrees of Separation”… turns out it wasn’t 6 degrees at all, only 2. Admittedly the game didn’t last as long as one might have imagined, but it was still fun.
When I moved to Phoenix in 2008 (Scottsdale, to be precise…) I didn’t know a lot of (any) people, but I knew I loved the warm Arizona weather. To get to know some people with similar interests I did a few things:
- Joined a gym
- Went to a yoga studio
- Participated in some local facebook groups for entrepreneurs, yoga, law of attraction, etc
- Started a Think And Grow Rich mastermind group

Danielli - Wax Master
One of the people I met through these efforts was Danielli Marcelino. Turns out she also works at the family day spa, as a licensed bikini-waxer-and-other-seemingly-painful-hair-removal-options. (I don’t think that’s the official term, but that’s what comes to my mind) And all along I thought she was a realtor…lol
Does anyone else find it humorous that a waxing expert is Brazilian by heritage?
Actually the whole family is Brazilian, having moved to Phoenix when the 3 daughters were in middle school. I didn’t ever ask how they ended up in Scottsdale from beautiful Brazil, but I’m sure it had something to do with wax, laser & hair removal. Or maybe just American fast food?
Anyway, where was I?
Oh yeah, I met Jana through her sister (who I haven’t actually met in person yet either) on facebook. Jana is an amazingly insightful woman with a passion for personal development, meditation, spirituality and to top it off, of course – internet marketing. (say what??? It must be a Brazilian thing…)

InterContinental Montelucia
So I got to check out their spa and have the grand tour. Then we went over to an awesome resort in Phoenix called the Intercontinential Montelucia. I could probably write an entire post about that… so for now I’ll just say it was amazing. Oh, and that although I put up a really good fight, Jana beat me at ping-pong. Again, I think that’s a Brazilian thing. (Ping-pong, not the hair removal…)
If you happen to find yourself in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, be sure to drop in at the Suddenly Slimmer Day Spa and say hello to my Brazilian friends: Jana, Danielli and Jeanie. (Jeanie is the other sister, d’uh)
