The Twitter Addiction – Social Media Adventure featured in Times Publications Article

Twitter Addiction

I haven’t been diligent about posting when the Social Media Adventure is featured in the media… but I’m turning over a new leaf.

Recently, Jimmy Magahern wrote an article entitled The Twitter Addiction for the Times Publications, one of Arizona’s prominent news publications.

Love it or hate it, the Valley’s top tweeters can’t stay off the social media site. When does RT, OH and #justsayin simply become TMI?

The article profiles some of the prominent twitter users in the Phoenix area and highlights some of the pitfalls, and pleasures, of the latest social media phenomenon, Twitter.

Social Media AdventureOther people featured in the article (some of whom I’ve met in person on the Social Media Adventure) are:

Be sure to check them out and say hello! :)

I am pleased that the articles ends on the note (with a quote from me) that the end result of all social media should be a handshake or a hug. It’s such a simple, but powerful concept.

So, if you haven’t done so already, check out The Twitter Addiction and say hello to some new twitter friends!

Millennium Trail bike trip, Thompson Manitoba

Day 3 of my August Long Weekend adventure in Thompson, Manitoba.

My friend Dan MacIntyre and I decided to head out for a bike ride on the Millennium Trail.

The Millennium Trail is a gorgeous path along the river and through the woods surrounding Thompson, MB. It is 15km of varied terrain with absolutely spectacular views of the water, trees, wildlife and sunshine of northern Manitoba.

Along the way we found an awesome brook to stop at. We chatted for hours and then I decided to hop in the water. (Well, I tried to skip along the rocks, but they weren’t very sturdy so I ended up taking a little dip in the water)

If you ever make it up to Thompson in northern Manitoba, be sure to check out the Millennium Trail… and say hello to my friend Dan! :)

Cliff Jumping Advenures at Mid Lake – Thompson, Manitoba

August Long Weekend… Day 2.

Angus MacIntyre

Angus 'Young' MacIntyre

I came up to visit one of my best friends ever who happens to live in Thompson, Manitoba. (aka the frozen tundra of northern Canada)

My friend is Dan MacIntyre, and he is as good of a friend as any man could ask for… just ask me about the time he flew down to Fort Lauderdale on the drop of a hat because I told him I needed his help.

And, to make it even better, he has a son. Now, I love all kids, but Dan’s kid is special… Seriously, how many kids do you know named Angus? (Named after his grandfather, but also Angus Young of AC/DC, of course)

So, to celebrate the unnamed civic holiday that we refer to as August Long Weekend, we got adventurous and went cliff jumping at a beautiful lake south of Thompson called Mid Lake.

What do you think of our moves? ;)

Yeah, we should have filmed more, but we were having too much fun… :)

Oh, and to top off the evening, we went to an AC/DC tribute concert. How cool is that?

Social Media Adventure visits Pisew Falls in Thompson, Manitoba

In Canada, we have an addiction.

It’s an addiction to long weekends.

You see, each month of the year, we need to have a holiday which gives us an excuse to stop working and enjoy the beautiful country around us. (Or go drink beer)

Pisew Falls, Thompson, Manitoba

Pisew Falls, Thompson, Manitoba

Each month has a very good reason. ie: New Years, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Victoria Day, Family Day, etc….

August doesn’t have a special reason. So, we just call it… are you ready for this?…. the August Long Weekend.

Brilliant, isn’t it?

Video of the falls

Anyway, I decided to take the Social Media Adventure on trip up to Thompson, Manitoba and see a good friend of mine. Funny that I would take the social media adventure to a place that doesn’t even have cellular service…

Along the way I stopped at a beautiful place called Pisew Falls.

Here are some of the pictures I took:

What did you do this past weekend?

Social Media Adventure sings Kelly Clarkson: My Life Would Suck Without You

This post has been a long time coming. After many requests I am finally giving in…

You see, anyone who knows me well knows that I am shameless. I don’t really ever get embarrassed and don’t mind looking silly.

I sing out loud in my car, i wave at strangers, i do handstands in public.

That’s how I roll.

For some reason, though, I was a bit reluctant to share this one… but I had to be true to myself. :)

Kelly Clarkson

All "I" ever wanted... Kelly Clarkson

Even though my sister thinks that I should date Natasha Bedingfield, I have had a major crush on Kelly Clarkson for years. I even alluded to my “date” with her in my post: 13 Funny Lessons From 2009. With a little help from my favorite 11 year old, Sarah, I’m coming out of the closet.

This is unreleased footage of me, Sarah & Kelly Clarkson.

(No, it isn’t some kinky sex tape or a hidden cam of your favorite celebrity… this is a family show for crying out loud)

It is me and Sarah singing along to Kelly Clarkson’s hit song My Life Would Suck Without You while driving in the car through Scottsdale on our way to the Channel 3 TV studio in Phoenix to meet Beverly Kidd and get a tour of the station.

Watch for the blog post when we actually got to the TV station and met Bev. I promise, it doesn’t have me singing anywhere… ;)

By the way, how did wI do? Think we can arrange for a duet with Kelly?
